2019 GATEWAY
Located very close to Booker, Gateway is a newly planted vineyard that will soon be recognized throughout the wine world. This 100-acre site is farmed by Randy Heinzen of VPS, who made a name for himself overseeing the likes of ToKalon, Las Piedras and Dr. Crane Vineyards in Napa Valley. In 2017 these sweeping clay soils provided MFN with the greatest Malbec we had ever tasted. The Cabernet grown here is also a power house.
The Gateway Vineyard is only just leaving the infancy stage of youthful power and is now beginning to express more complexity and elegance. A Cab lover’s Cab, this wine features beautiful violets, cassis, black currant, green olive, and Chinese 5-spice on the nose. The palate is rich with a wide mouthfeel and features notes of caramel and toasted hazelnut. Less than 100 cases were produced of 2019 Gateway. Vineyard designates are reserved for club members only.
